Industry and Market Trends 

The most important trends in the Games Industry are linked to strong brands. These include: Apps and console games. These are strong things for businesses to make money.

2013 - Trends in the Market 

In 2013 Virtual relaity started to get real after the release of the Oculus Rift in Summer 2012. 2013 brought thousands od rift dev kits which were shipped to developers and the potential of the hardware bagan to materialise

2014- Trends in the Market

Valve software has been making gradual steps towards opening steam up so more developers can take advantage of the platforms sizeable footprint of 100 million registered users for a couple of years now.But 2014 was when we really started to see steam open up, for better and/or for worse.

2015- Predicted Trends in the Market

Since mobile gaming became an integral part of the modern  pop culture, the so called 'devaluation of games' began.  An average user no longer wants to spend any money at all to install the game.90% of revenue generated by games on App store this year came from free-to-play titles.

Intellectual Property

There are a number of distinct types of creations of the mind. Intellectual property gives the owner exclusive rights which include: Intangible assets such as Music, Literary, artistic work, words, phrases and symbols. The most common types of intellectual property are: Copyright, Trademark, Patent and Industrial design rights.

Licensed IP

Characters and setting are licensed. Authorization to use licensed materials is given by the licensor. This means that the licensee has to grant the other party permission to copy software or use a patent to avoid a claim of infringement.

X-MEN

X-MEN started as a comic in 1963. Stan Lee was the writer and Jack Kirby was the artist. Marvel comics were the publishers. It then became a game in 1989 - X-MEN Mutant Academy 2. It was released as a TV series in 1990 and finally released as a film in 2000.

Original IP
Original IP is when the work is created from scratch. Although it may have taken ideas from other copyrighted work. 

LA Noire
The game was released in 2011. It is in homage to film noir, Uses some of the major themes from iconic films LA Confidential and The Untouchables. The game is developed by team Bondi and published by Rockstar games.
